Ikat is one of the oldest forms of textile decoration, and can be found in many areas across Central Asia. Each country has its own distinct style and motifs, as seen in these vibrant patterns from Turkey.

Ikat means ‘to bind’, as the velvet threads used to create the design are tied together and dyed in a method similar to batik, before the finished fabric is woven together. The end piece is a completely unique, striking blend of patterns and colours.

These cushion covers are made completely by hand by artisans in Turkey. Every item is unique and will contain tiny details and blemishes resulting from the dying and binding process.
